Description

August 1st is now officially Emancipation Day in Canada. On that day in 1834, slavery was abolished across the British Empire.

In commemorating this historical day, LIWI68 is proud to release its latest design titled "Freedom".

FAWOHODIE is an Adinkra symbol of independence, freedom and emancipation. It comes from the expression "Fawohodie ene obre na enam" which translates to "Independence comes with its responsibilities."

Recognizing emancipation is a step forward in recognizing African Canadian history as part of Canada’s history.

We are all responsible for ensuring our history is never forgotten.
