"We all require and want respect, man or woman, black or white. It’s our basic human right." - Ms. Aretha Franklin "The Queen of Soul".

As a tribute to Ms. Franklin, I have created an art piece titled "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." honoring her life and legacy.
Aretha Franklin was a staple in the music industry and an active voice in the civil rights movement. In 1970 when Angela Davis was arrested, Aretha offered to pay her bond no matter what the cost was. She has been quoted as saying,
"Angela Davis must be set free. Black people will be free. I have the money; I got it from Black people. They've made me financially able to have it - and I want to use it in ways to help our people."
Her songs titled "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." and "THINK" were songs of female empowerment.
Over her lifetime she received 18 Grammy Awards. In 1994 she was awarded a lifetime achievement award. In 1987, she was the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
