Droppin’ Dimez, Canada’s ONLY All-Female hip hop show, has been one of the top-rated programs at CKLN 88.1FM for over a decade. The show is comprised of MelBoogie, JJ Rock & Big G, a trio of females who know how to hold their own and do damage on the turntables and the mic.
DJ MelBoogie has a history with college radio that goes 15 years deep. She is the resident DJ for Honey Jam, and has been a speaker/panelist at a variety of music industry conferences representing women in hip hop. In addition to DJing, she is also establishing herself as an MC for parties and special events. She has made several television appearances, including MTV Canada, Much Music, New Music, Toronto Life, E-Talk Daily and Fashion Television’s spin-off, Ooh-La-La. Also a Publicist and Marketing Consultant, Mel has produced events and done PR for a variety of international artists, including Maestro (Fresh-Wes), Little Brother, Evidence, Jully Black, Ron Artest, Theology 3, dj NaNa, TRIXX, North America’s largest cultural festival, Caribana, and several other DJs throughout the country. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the JUNO Awards (Rap Category), and is the Director of Communications for UMAC (Urban Music Association of Canada).
